Life around here has been quite busy lately and to be honest, I am ready for it to slow down. However, I am not sure it ever will; I think that is just the nature of our personalities. It has been quite some time since I have shared a glimpse into one of our weekends with a weekend recap— like since October. Instead, I will just share what we have been up to lately all in one post.
Our weekends have been jam packed since the last weekend in April! Yes, that is right, we have had something going on every weekend since the third weekend in April. J started off the marathon off busy weekends the third weekend in April by taking a trip to Chicago for a bachelor party. The munchkins and I stayed home and my mom came to visit.
The last weekend in April took us to French Lick, Indiana where we visited an indoor water with my inlaws. The kiddos love the waterpark and C was a big fan of going down the big slide- several times! The trip got her super excited for all the pools to open this weekend and I am sure we will get as much pool time in as possible before Baby #3 arrives.
During the first weekend in May we packed up shop with Grammy and the kids and I headed down to Georgia for a long weekend. We spent 4 days with my aunt and cousins and it was so great to be with them.
It was a relaxing long weekend filled with a lot of time outside, feeding horses, going on golf cart rides, swimming and celebrating my younger cousin who graduated from college. We came home on the Sunday of Mother’s Day just in time for a nice Mother’s Day dinner.
Following Georgia we actually stayed home for the weekend, but were quite busy with wedding activities. J was the best man in his friend’s wedding so we were tied up all weekend. It was nice to have a weekend where we spent a lot of time just the two of us at the rehearsal dinner and the wedding. While J was doing wedding “stuff” Saturday morning the kids and I ran the local Girls on the Run 5k and then kept entertained by coercing some friends to have lunch with us.
Last weekend we headed to my hometown for another long weekend. J had some meetings up there so we tagged along and made a weekend out of it. It had been a really long time since we had all been home for a long weekend and it was nice! I attended a spinning class taught by my mom! We went and saw my best friend’s boys play baseball, we hung out by the pool, celebrated another friend getting married, and then participated in their Girls on the Run 5k that my mom coordinated. It was a great weekend!
After five weekends in a row of busy-ness we are happy to say that I think we are mostly done traveling and being away from home until the baby gets here. We have plans to go to the lake with friends in a couple of weeks and then maybe one more trip back to my hometown (maybe), but that is all. We have declared now until baby gets here as mostly “no plan weekends”. Yes, we have a few plans, but we don’t plan to fill every moment with commitments. We have a tendency to do that and then regret it once we do. In fact, we try to make it that we have at least two “no plan weekends” per month, but as you can see, that has not happened. On the bright side, we have enjoyed all the memories we have made and it has sure made this last pregnancy go super fast. How is it that I have 5.5 weeks (probably 6.5 since I go over) until I get to meet this little baby of ours?!?
Your turn- tell me!
How do you spend your weekends?
Do you prefer to have a lot of plans or just roll with it?
