Friday’s Five Favorites IX

Even though I am a stay-at-home mom, I still love Fridays!  Although I still have the same amount of “work” to do on the weekends I have help all day long, the days are a much slower pace, and I enjoy being with my little family.

I am getting a later start this morning, but well worth it as it was a late night last night with a BIG IU WIN!  I am now enjoying some quiet time while Max is napping and Claire is at play school.  My husband had to travel this week for work so it has been hard to get to all my posts I had planned, but I can’t let you go into the weekend without the list of favorites from the week.  Don’t forget to leave some of your own favorites in the comments- I love hearing from you.

Favorite Munchkin Moment

I know I repeat this often, but I love the bond that is forming between Claire and Max.  I pray that I never have to stop saying this.  A couple of times this week I found her going over to him, hugging him, giving him a kiss and saying, “I love you Max.”  She is so sweet.  And he is always watching her and grinning at her silliness.

Favorite Workout

I stole a workout idea from one of my favorite bloggers, Julie at Peanut Butter Fingers this week: the final burnout.  I incorporated this into my classes and it was a hit… or maybe one of those things they really loved to hate.  We did this Upper Body Strength Burnout for the whole length of Mariah Carey’s Fantasy Remix and this Cardio Burnout to the whole duration of Usher’s OMG.  I can assure you my class participants will be seeing these burnouts more often.  Pick a motivating song and do as many rounds as you can for the length of the song- you’ll either love or hate me, or a little bit of both!

Favorite Eat

With my husband traveling this week, we had a lot of simple meals: eggs, leftover soup, more eggs, pulled pork and some more eggs.  However we did manage to get carryout from a favorite local restaurant and their butternut squash soup is amazing- the best I have ever had.  I have decided the next time I am there I am just going to ask if I can buy it in bulk.  And I will also be on the hunt for a good butternut squash soup recipe: I tried it once and it was an ultimate fail.  In the meantime, if you are a north-sider, you must try out Asian Grill on the square in Noblesville, and make sure you order the butternut squash soup.

Favorite Read

I read this blog post earlier this week (How 936 Pennies Will Forever Change How You Parent), thought I bookmarked it and then couldn’t find it.  I wanted to share it with my readers so I put a request on my Facebook page and sure enough someone posted it for me.  I love this perspective of parenting.  It brought me to tears, but also really made me reflect on the choices I am making as a mother.  Some days most days I wonder if I am doing it right.  I will continue to read this, reflect and make sure that I am spending each penny they way God intends.

Favorite Item

After many years of preaching to my members to track their heart rate during exercise, I finally decided to “practice what I preach” and purchased one for myself.  I can’t believe I have gone so long without one.  I got the Polar Ft7 off of Amazon and couldn’t be happier with my purchase.  I love knowing when I can push harder, and when I should slow down a little- I am finding that balance even in my workouts.
