Friday’s Five Favorites X

Wow, did this week ever go fast!  Does anyone else feel this way?  This is my most favorite time of the year and I hate that it always seems to go by so quickly.  It has been a super busy week: I had two different meetings in the evening for the volunteer work that I do, we have finished all of our Christmas decorating, and have prepared to host a Christmas party tonight.

Although this week has been extremely busy, I have still managed to take care of myself by making fitness a priority.  I have also still made time to spend some quality time with my loved ones.  Overall, it has been a great, busy week and here are some of my favorites:

Munchkin Moment

I think I have read this a million times this week from my friends with kids, but it is true, “Christmas is so much more magical when you have kids.”  Claire is loving all things Christmas.  Each day she goes to one specific ornament on the tree and says, “Wow, Santa,” or “Mommy, look Santa Claus!”  She gets so excited every time she hears “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” on the Christmas radio station.  In fact, on Wednesday, she got into the car with Josh and as soon as he turned it on she disapproved of his sports talk radio and said, “Daddy, Christmas music.”

Favorite Workout

Unfortunately it is getting quite cold here in Indiana.  I don’t mind running in the cold, but I do mind putting my kids in the jogger for a cold run.  During the week my runs have been limited to the treadmill.  It is very difficult for me to complete a steady state run on the treadmill and I always opt for an interval run to keep me from getting bored.  I completed this interval run on the treadmill on Monday and it was such a great sweat so I did it again today before lifting with a friend.

Fight treadmill boredom with this interval workout that will burn fat and increase your speed. 20 minutes of sweating and increasing your heart rate.

Favorite Eat

Chicken Pad Thai with Spaghetti Squash… you must try it!  Jamie shared this recipe on her Facebook page this week and it is easy and incredible!  When I made this, my husband said, “Can we have this every week?  And not eat our regular spaghetti squash with meatballs and marinara anymore and just eat this?  This will be a new staple in our house.

As we are approaching the one year anniversary of our frightening trip to Riley Children’s Hospital with Claire, I have been thinking about what we could do to thank the nurses and maybe bring some comfort to some of the current families there.  Although this Mother’s situation is much worse and on a much larger scale than ours it is a great story.  Maybe it will inspire you to reach out and thank someone who has done something fabulous even if it is just your neighbor.

Favorite Item

I have had these Uggs for quite some time, but am enjoying them now more than ever.  I wear mostly compression carpris to the gym so I always have a part of my leg that is bare and cold.  When I put these boots on they cover that part of my leg and keep me warm.  Let’s face it, they are also super cute and I have gotten a ton of compliments on them recently.  This is my third winter with these boots and they still look great and are in great condition.
