Just a short 16 weeks left until we welcome Baby #3 into this world- I can’t believe it. 16 weeks might seem like a long time and it would have felt like that with our first child, but when there is two others, I know first hand that the next 16 weeks is going to fly by.
There is officially no question whether or not I am pregnant any more. I have not only gone to a full-fledged maternity wardrobe, but I have finally packed away those favorite items that I was trying to squeeze into and I don’t want to get stretched out. Thank goodness for TJ Maxx as my lifesaver to some new, extra long and extra stretch workout tops.
I still go back and forth on gender. As I am typing this post my husband just said, “I think it is a boy and the boys in this house are going to dominate.” C is going back to being very adamant that baby #3 is a girl. And M, well he has no idea what is coming!
I am feeling awesome and am so blessed to have had another easy and uneventful pregnancy so far. I am trying to soak up every last little kick I feel because I think this is probably it for our family. (Never say never, right?) Continue reading to see how Baby SK is growing at 24 weeks!
Weight Gain
I have officially gained 18 pounds with means I gained 4 pounds in the last 4 weeks. I know the recommended weight gain is 25-30 pounds and if I keep it up I will surpass it. Guess what? I am okay with it. I gained well over 30 pounds with my other two as well. My doctor is fine with it and I never get a “talking to”. I am still exercising and am eating well and that is what is important to me (and my doctor).
You can read why I have decided to share my weight gain with my readers on my 12 week post here.
Symptoms
I am feeling awesome. I feel like my energy is slowly coming back although I still like to take a nap every day, especially on the days I get up to study. Other than that, I feel fantastic.
Workouts
I am back to working out 6 times a week. I have been shooting for 2-3 “me workouts” each week. Since i am teaching 4 days of week right now, this means some days I still double up and get in a 20-30 minute workout of my own before I teach class. This also means that when I teach class I coach more of it than doing the whole thing. The rowing machine continues to be my best friend and is the best thing for pregnant woman: unlike the treadmill, I don’t have to run to the bathroom 3 minutes in. I also love heavy weights kettlebells.
Food Aversions & Cravings
No aversions, but the last couple weeks I have been craving cereal and not the “okay for you cereal”, but the sugary “I won’t even let my kids eat that” kind of cereal. In the past three weeks I have bought cocoa pebbles, fruit loops and lucky charms. The huge box of lucky charms is gone and I am now vowing not to buy anymore… and not to replace my nightly cereal snack with ice cream. I documented a day’s worth of second trimester eating in this “What I Ate Wednesday Post”.
Goals
My main goal if to continue to fuel my body properly. For me, working out is easy, but the sticking to my 80-20 lifestyle can get a little lax when I am pregnant. I do also want to get in a couple long (ish) runs now that it is getting warmer outside.
Sleep
My body pillow has officially come out and has made my sleeping even better. I do always wake up at the exact same time every day to go potty and sometimes have a hard time falling back asleep.
Feelings & Fun
Complete non baby related, last weekend I celebrated (early) my 32nd Birthday with my girlfriends. We had a great morning doing two things I love: working out and brunching. My friend even made fun Birthday shirts for us to all wear during the workout.
J has finally felt the baby move! Baby SK’s movement has come much later than the first two because I have an anterior placenta this time. Basically the placenta is acting as a buffer when the baby moves and it is more like kicking or punching into a pillow so the feeling is not as strong.
The next time I come back with an update it is hard to believe that I will be officially in my final trimester! Until then, I plan to enjoy everything that comes along with adding another sweet baby to our family.
