It’s Friday!!! I am here with another edition of my Five Friday Favorites. This is one of my favorite posts to write because it really allows me to reflect on the week. If you are a new reader (or old) I’d love to have you join in and tell me some of your favorites from the week.
When I sit down and think about my favorite things from the week it really makes me grateful that I get to be a stay-at-home mom. Some days are harder than others and those terrible moments seem to be never-ending, but the good outweighs the bad and I would not want it any other way. I cherish the small conversations I have with C all day long and the many times she says, “Mommy guess what,” then a long pause, “I love you,” in her sweet whisper voice. I truly enjoy redirecting M multiple times a day because it means I am the one that getting to watch him experience life, become mobile and grow and learn. In the mean time he may give me a few gray hairs as I watch him climb (and fall) all over everything, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My Five Friday Favorites!
Favorite Munchkin Moment
We have been trying to soak up every last bit of summer there is left. This week we headed to our neighborhood a couple of times this week and it was great. Now that the big kids in our neighborhood are back to school it is nice to have the pool mostly to ourselves. C has officially ditched her puddle jumpers and now jumps in and just swims with a noodle. M prefers to hang out on the top step and throw the ball back and forth, which is no surprise. I have been trying to appreciate the small things each day and the sounds of C splashing in the pool and M laughing as he throws the ball has made my heart full.
Favorite Workout
I have been incorporating the Jillian Michael’s Body Shred format into my Thursday Cardio Sculpt class and it is awesome! 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of core… for ONE hour! The athletes in my class have been loving it and I have been sore from teaching. Not to mention, if you are a group exercise instructor, this is a pretty easy, fool-proof way to put together a class.
Favorite Eat
Nothing fancy this week for meals: some BALTs (Bacon, AVACADO, lettuce & tomato sandwiches), grilled pork loin, breakfast for dinner and hamburgers were on our menu this week. However, last night we went out to celebrate the Blogiversary of Muscles & Munchkins and of course I chose our favorite, local pizza joint (check out Some Guys if you are local). You can’t go wrong with pizza and a beer every once in awhile. Plus it is super kid-friendly which makes dinner out actually enjoyable. We tried a new pizza last night and it was so good that I forgot to snap a pictures. I hope to be recreating it soon- Spicy Thai Chicken Pizza. YUM!
Favorite Read
Wednesday’s Jesus Calling devotion was really powerful for me! I have it now ear-tagged so that I read it every day. One part of the devotion states, “A leisurely pace accomplishes more than hurried striving.” I need to be reminded of this every single day. When I start my day with Jesus Calling I feel much more focused. I will admit, I don’t do it every day because I am too rushed (hence why above is so impactful). I notice a difference in my attitude if I start the day in His Word.
Favorite Item
I think these Athleta shorts are stealing the show for my favorite running and working out shorts. They are the perfect length on me and I really like them. I have both blue and black and you can find me doing everything in them!
There you have it, friends. My favorites from this week! I am sure I will be adding to this list as we have a fun weekend planned: a country concert with some girlfriends tonight AND then we will be heading back to my hometown for the weekend to see my brother who just got home from deployment!
Your turn- tell me!

I love the message from that devotional.
I’m late reading Happier, but on thing Gretchen Ruben talks about is that things that are done daily (even it’s a little bit) are better than things done sporadically. Such a good message.

You have the CUTEST kids! So adorable! And I love the Jesus Calling devotional! I feel so much better when I start my day out with prayer/devotion.

They are too cute! I was fortunate to be a stay at home mom as well and I am so glad that I got to see all the little things. You are right some days are harder than others. They grow so quickly!
Sue @ This Mama Runs for Cupcakes says
I ran first thing this morning before the kids got up and I felt so much more at ease with starting my day! Those shorts are so cute, I wish I could wear them but shorts constantly ride up on me. I stick with skirts instead!
