On Tuesday morning I woke up thinking it was Friday- that is a sure sign you know it is going to be a long week! A long week it was! M came down with a fever and a lot of rain here in Indiana kept us in the house. As moms, I always say, “the days are long, but the years are short.” On weeks that I have extra long, taxing days I try to remember that my years with these two precious gifts are so short. Before I know it they will be off to school, and I will be trying to find more hours in the day to spend with them.
And on these long days, and weeks that feel like they will never end, I try to remember the great things in life and my favorites from the week with my “Friday Favorites” post. Read on to find out what I was loving this week.
Favorite Munchkin Moment
I have so many from the week. Before M came down with a fever this week, I put the two of them in the bike trailer for our first bike ride. I love being active with the two of them. He loved it for the first couple of minutes, but after we got going he was not so thrilled. I am really hoping he will start to like this more because we love family bike rides.
With the rain, we spent a lot of time doing puzzles, storytelling using our window stickers, and rolling the ball back and forth to M. The rain kept us inside, but I am proud to say that we didn’t turn the television on once and had a lot of play time. I love C’s imagination and watching M explore the playroom. His exploring consists of putting every toy in his mouth, trying to find crayons to eat and climbing into whatever he possibly can. I love how different the two are!
Favorite Workout
With M being sick, it put a damper in my workouts this week and that is okay. I am Mommy before anything else. While my health and fitness are a huge priority and I don’t make excuses to miss a workout on Thursday I did. Missing a workout once in a great while is okay. Plus, I really felt like my body was telling me to rest and I listened.
I still got in 4 other great workouts this week and am planning on a long run tomorrow. Although I got in 4 workouts, no single one stood out as great. I just had one of those off weeks when it came to working out. I hope my run tomorrow will be awesome!
Favorite Eat
I posted this Sweet Chili Coconut-Lime Grilled Chicken from Iowa Girl eats on my Facebook page last week and we finally made it this week. As my hubby was grilling he must have gotten a little taste when the chicken was done because he immediately said, “What did you put on this chicken?!?!” It was really good: moist, a small kick to it and provided great leftovers. Even though it had a little spice to it, C still ate it. We will be making this often!

You may have read this post: Fighting the Thigh Gap Mentality– if you haven’t, you need to! Over the last 2.5 years (the age of C) I have really tried to focus on the strengths of my body and not what it can and cannot do and not what features I do not have. Let’s face it, I will never have slim legs, but those legs get me up and down the stairs carrying both of my munchkins some days. They allow me to chase after a giggling little girl who always says, “one more time, Mommy!” And the reality of it is, she is built just like me and I love that. I will do everything in my power for her to grow up loving and appreciating her body instead of getting into the habit of talking negatively about the body God has given her. Check out this article, and really think hard about the words that come out of your mouth and how they are shaping your daughter’s self confidence.

I purchased this top from Old Navy last week and I am loving it. For some reason I don’t like wearing my sweaty workout tops out of the gym even though it is hot enough. Especially if they have visible sweat marks. I think it also has something to do with being so used to putting a sweatshirt of jacket over my tops in the winter that I feel I need to do the same in the summer. This top is perfect. I looked at it online and completely bypassed it. Then, when I saw it in the store I thought I should try it on and it is super cute. I think it would also look cute with jean shorts or a pair of jeans and sandals for a casual outfit.
That’s it for what I am loving this week. What about you, I’d love to hear what you have enjoyed this week as well. When you have long weeks, it is so great to look back on the positives of the week- try it!

Adorable munchkins! Those days can be grueling but they’re so rewarding and they do slip away in the blink of an eye. I was just looking through baby books last night. My youngest is 9 now and my teenager just turned 14! Her birthday party and 8th grade graduation party are today! Thank heavens the rain has stopped and we have a gorgeous day for once!
