Good afternoon, Friday! It has been awhile since I have done one of my traditional Friday’s Favorites and I can’t wait to share with you what I am loving this week. What a wonderful week it has been here at our house. Although the temperatures are getting cold, we have enjoyed some great family time at home and a few afternoons spent in the backyard.
As soon as this post goes up, I am signing off for the weekend to enjoy all the festivities with my little family. The weekend started off with a great morning of celebrating Halloween with my daughter’s preschool class and I can’t wait to recap the day with you early next week.
Friday’s Five Favorites
If you are new to the blog, on Fridays I like to share my favorites from the week: my favorite moments with my munchkins; my favorite workout from the week; my favorite thing I ate this week; my favorite read; and my favorite item of the week. After you are done reading, I’d love for you to share your favorites too. Let’s get to it.
Favorite Munchkin Moment
As the weather gets colder, it is the little things we do inside that bring so much joy. After heading to Costco we always have a box to play in and this week “Tinkerbell” and “Hunting Man” (because he was wearing a camo shirt) decided it would be fun to turn the Costco box into a car… and then a ship… and finally a castle. It was so fun to hear the different ideas C was coming up with and M would join on the fun as well and laugh, try to push the box, and bring balls of course to fill it.
In addition to her amazing imagination, C also loves to dance and twirl. This week before dinner we would turn on some music and dance around the kitchen while I was cooking. Sometimes I would join in on the twirls and leaps and other times I would just watch from afar. M was mostly not interested and would throw his ball and then go chase it- quite typical of his behavior. But once I looked over and they were holding hands dancing in the kitchen together. So sweet these two! Yes, when M was a newborn and C was just 2 years old it was hard- very hard. Now, I am so glad they are close in age.
Favorite Workout
My “On the Ball” class is one of my favorites of the week and this week was no different. You know it is a good class when even the instructor is sore! I woke up Wednesday with super sore legs and Thursday I was still sore. I love any workout that includes strength training with bursts of high intensity cardio drills. And of course I love incorporating the BOSU into these classes.
Favorite Eat
With colder weather, the crockpot was put to good use this week. On Tuesday I mad an awesome pork loin and veggies in the crockpot. Pretty simple really: pork loin, potatoes, carrots and green beans all went into the crock pot with a can of beef consume, a can of water and seasoned with Tone’s rosemary garlic. I cooked it all day long and I loved that dinner was ready with minimum prep.
Favorite Read
I have been loving this book for a couple of weeks now and keep forgetting to share. It is absolutely not what I usually share, but I need to share this book for all moms (or dads) with girls. I love reading Not All Princess Dress in Pink to C before bedtime. As girly as she is, I want her to learn that “princesses” can get dirty, wear gym shoes, or even overalls. Such a cute, fun book, but with an awesome message.
Favorite Item
It sure has been chilly this week and I adore this sweater scarf I picked up from Dottie Couture for our family pictures. The scarf was an awesome element of texture for our pictures and since then I have been wearing it around the house, to the gym and out and about. It is super warm- and adorable! Unfortunately, they don’t have it online anymore, but I have seen some on zulily and in some other stores.
There you have it, friends, what I have loved about this week. I am sure there will be more things to add after a weekend of fun with family & friends. I will catch you all late Sunday night with a weekend recap. I hope you enjoy dressing up, eating your favorite candy in moderation, and some exercise sprinkled in there too.
Your turn- tell me!
What are you loving this week?
