Hello Friday, I am so glad you are here! It is time for another round of my Friday favorites where I share with you some things I have been loving lately.
It has been another long week at our house with some ugly colds that have surfaced. I started feeling crummy last week and after teaching on Monday I finally called the doctor to see what I could take. Let’s just say I didn’t get out of my pajamas from Monday afternoon until Wednesday morning. C also had to take a trip to the doctor. She had a cough for two weeks and started running a fever over the weekend and we decided to finally take her to be seen. Low and behold, she had an ear infection.
The good news is the boys managed to stay completely healthy and we are all on the mend now. A little bump in our week got me completely behind on blog related work and studying so I will be playing catch up.
Friday’s Five Favorites
Let’s get to my favorite from the week so we can all get on with our fabulous Fridays!
Favorite Munchkin Moment
Ahhhh, this moment is not about C or M… but Baby #3. Seeing our precious miracle on the ultrasound on Wednesday takes the cake. I will be honest, part of the reason I don’t like to find out the gender is because I view the 20 week ultrasound a lot different than most people. For me, I am so anxious for the health of the baby that the 20 week ultrasound is all about the health for me.
Seeing this little on on the screen brought me to tears. I am so blessed we have another healthy baby to join our family and baby SK is measuring exactly on target- although I think I will deliver 5 days late.
By the way, we now refer to the baby as SK (the first initial of our boy’s name & first initial of our girl’s name), in case you are wondering when I use those initials. Can you guess the names?
Favorite Workout
Cables and kettle bells for the win this week! Boom! You know I love Kettlebells. This morning we had an awesome group of 4 who met for an early morning workout and it rocked. What I love even more is when it is a good workout that I don’t have to plan. Heather brought the workout from awesome trainer Sara and it was a good one.
Lot of different exercises and sizes of kettle bells and a little glider action too. The cable deadlift was killer and I loved the seated row too. I know I will be feeling that workout tomorrow. We ended with a sweat finisher that I will not be happy about when I go for my run tomorrow morning. I love early morning workouts with my friends.
Favorite Eat
Holy banana bread! Not the healthiest of favorite eats this week, but I have never made my own banana bread before and this recipe did not disappoint. I loved that it used no white sugar and honey instead. Little man was all about this bread too. Yum!
Favorite Read
Lately I have been spending my reading time studying or sleeping, but I am still reading with my kiddos. During Lent we have been doing a daily devotion as a family and we are loving our daily Bible verses. Even as adults, I feel it is a good reminder of the most famous Bible stories and reteaching them to our children can give us a whole new perspective.
I love that this devotion we have also has a visual (the tree) to go along with it. C has been very good at using the stickers to review each day the different lessons she has learned. The concept of Jesus dying on the cross for our sins is a hard one, and she is starting to understand sin a little bit more. M on the other hand, just listens, folds his hands and prays. It is all a part of the learning process and I love it!
Favorite Item
I love fresh flowers- end of story! I know a lot of women would prefer not to get flowers because they just die, but not me. I don’t need anything expensive, I just love the feel that having fresh flowers gives my house. Especially in the winter time when it is cold and gray and I could use some sunshine. My husband is good at knowing when an expensive thing of flowers from Kroger will cheer me up and this colorful bouquet did the trick. Nothing like bringing in a little Spring to our house in February.
Despite the colds, this week has been a good week and I know today and this weekend is going to be even better. We are kicking off the weekend with a date night and I am so thrilled that it will be warm enough tomorrow to get in a long run. Did I mention the sun will be shining? Nothing makes me happier than a little sunshine. Have a good weekend, fit friends!
