It has been a quiet week around here, well on the blog that is. This is my first post of the week, which is rare. I actually had several posts plan and then life happened. We started the week at the lake and then came home and have been going non stop ever since. The week before an online bootcamp launch is usually busy for me and this week was no different. I also picked out my new cabinets and island for my upcoming kitchen remodel and we ran into car trouble with both cars (I popped a darn tire). To say we are ready for the weekend is an understatement. Although this week was busy and a little chaotic, we were able to enjoy some great things this week including an awesome driveway workout with one of my dearest friends.
I am here today to share my favorite from the week. If you are new to Muscles & Munchkins, a couple of times a month I like to give you a little peek into my week and share what I love from the week. It is also a great time to stop and reflect on the lovely things in your own life.
Favorite Munchkin Moment
With three kids it is hard to choose just one munchkin moment. I loved the early Monday morning coffee cruise on the lake. My kids love the boat and just want to go “fast” and although there was no wake it is fun to just be on the water with them.
I loved taking an afternoon nap with S this week. Although I don’t really sleep as much as I just doze on and off, I enjoyed his big smiles while sleeping and even heard a few giggles. He is just the sweetest.
Last night I let C come in bed with me and watch the Olympics. This is not something I would usually do as she goes to bed at 7:30, but when I realized the next time we could do this she would be 8, I quickly grabbed her out of bed and soaked up that time with just her.
Favorite Workout
I had the best intentions of meeting my friend Tracy at the gym on Thursday, but when my tire popped on Wednesday night, I wasn’t making it to the gym Thursday morning. Instead, Tracy came to my house for a driveway workout and although it was hot, it was a great workout. All workouts are better with friends. I think the breakfast and coffee afterwards made it even better.
When I write partner workouts, a lot of times one partner counts reps while the other partner does an exercise until the first partner is finished. This was my favorite partner set yesterday and I am feeling it today! Next time you are working out with a friend, try it!
Partner 1 did assisted pistol squats with a chair and then stepped into a forward lunge. She did 8 on the right leg and then 8 on the left leg. Partner 2 did not stop her set until Partner 1 was finished.
*Standing on your right foot, squat into chair, come back up (weight in heel) and with your right foot lunge forward. That will be 1 rep.*
Favorite Eat
We had some friends bring dinner on Tuesday night and they made this awesome edamame hummus. Ever since I have been eating it with everything! Dipping my snap peas in it? Yes! Using it as a salad dressing? Absolutely! Check out this recipe and make a batch to snack on next week.
Favorite Read
As a breastfeeding mom, I loved reading this article on Girls Gone Strong: How What You Eat Impacts Your Baby. This reminded me of how important it was for me to continue to fuel my body to feed S and not to lose weight. I feel like with every baby I have gotten frustrated with my weight at 6 weeks and this time it is no different. I loved this reminder of what else my body is still doing.
Favorite Item
If you follow me on Snapchat, you have probably noticed that I haven’t been taking off this hat and probably because I have worn it almost every day since I bought it. If you know me, you know I love hats an have more than most men. When I found this chambray hat at Dottie Couture I scooped it right up and am so glad I did. (Unfortunately they don’t have the blue, but only the burgundy left.) I love it so much I called there and grabbed the last army green one they have too. I am sure I will wear that all fall.
