What a busy, fun weekend we had. We partook in the Halloween festivities, celebrated the 3rd Birthday of one of C’s sweet girlfriends, and had a lot of time with family and friends. Last year I recapped Halloween weekend and it was fun to see how things have changed… and in some sense, have not.
Halloween Weekend Recap
Trick-or-Treating was much more fun for all parties this year. The weather made it much more enjoyable and C really loved it. We celebrated the same sweet friend’s birthday, but there was no marathon to run this year. Keep reading to find a full recap of our Halloween weekend including more pictures from the cutest Tinkerbell I’ve ever seen and the little Dragon I couldn’t get enough of!
Friday- The Halloween Festivities Begin
The weekend started with a 6am workout for me because I had a buys day of “mom” ahead. By C’s request, Daddy got to go into the office late and took her to school- she was thrilled! I took M to the babysitter for the morning while I ran some errands and could attend C’s Halloween Party at school.
This may have been one of the best things I have done as a stay-at-home mom yet. To be able to just volunteer for her Halloween Party, show up with a fun craft for the kids and not worry about taking off work or writing sub plans was awesome! It was so fun to see her with her friends and in that setting.
Once the party was over we declared it a “girls afternoon” and went to lunch with one of her friends from preschool (and her mommy) and then shopping at Target of course. Before we knew it, it was time to pick M.
After naps & quiet time we spent a nice, quiet evening at home. J and I cooked a yummy dinner after the kids went to bed. We recreated our Blue Apron steaks, mashed potatoes and asparagus. Once dinner was finished we decided we were both exhausted and could watch one episode of Friday Night Lights, but it would be best if we just watched it in bed. One episode and then we were out!
Saturday- Halloween Fun
Saturday started with an early morning run for me. I ran with two other girls that live near me and it was nice to literally run out my door and begin my run. My friend needed to get in 8 miles, so I joined her. We clipped a nice 8:22 pace and by 8:15 I was back home enjoying some warm coffee and a nice slow morning with my sweet family.
It was so nice to be home just relaxing on a Saturday morning. We finally got around to running a few errands before the rest of the weekend festivities. We all packed up and went out to get groceries and items for the weekend.
We came home and I baked more Pumpkin Chocolate Chip cookies and J started the Chili for after Trick or Treating. The kids went down for much needed naps because the rest of the evening was going to be busy.
My Mom and Thom arrived mid afternoon C had a Birthday party to attend before Trick or Treating so my mom and I took her. The boys stayed home and raked the yard while we partied away. She was so excited that she got to wear her costume to the Birthday party.
She absolutely loved me putting the makeup on her. She couldn’t wait to look in the mirror and when she did she smiled from ear to ear. She kept twirling and posing. Tinkerbell was surely cute!
After the party it was time to Trick-or-Treat. Tinkerbell was ready to go and we couldn’t wait to get home to see the Dragon and Peter Pan. C requested that everyone dress up for Halloween. Daddy was to be Peter Pan and me a cat (mouse ears will do). Her Grammy and Papaw even joined in on the dress up fun.
M was the cutest little dragon I have ever seen. He would walk up and down the sidewalk and his little tail would just flop. A couple of times he would sit down for a rest. This little boy warms my heart!
My in-laws joined us for the trick-or-treating fun. The weather was great and I was shocked at the number of houses the kids wanted to go to. C like to “fly” from house to house and M wanted to walk up to every door and pick his own candy. I helped him pick a couple of butterfingers.
We finished up trick-or-treating and came back home and enjoyed chili with everyone before calling it an early night- everyone was exhausted.
Sunday- More Family & Friends
It was a good thing Saturday was a jam packed day and the kids were exhausted because they slept in on Sunday morning even with daylight savings time! Once we all awoke we got ready for church and Sunday school and were off. We enjoyed breakfast after church at a local breakfast joint. It was super fun to have my Mom & Thom join us for service and Sunday school.
They left to go back home once the kids went down for a nap and J and I relaxed a little before our friends and their kids came over late afternoon. We spent the afternoon and evening hanging out with my friend Tracy and her family. It was really awesome that our husbands finally got to meet and of course the kids played well together and had a blast.
After a long, fun, and busy weekend, it was an early bedtime at our house. I ended the weekend by rocking M to sleep and him falling asleep on me- priceless. Both kiddos were in bed by 7:15 and I am soon to follow. What a great Halloween weekend it was!
