I thought about listing all of my favorite moments from the last two weeks as I have not posted a Friday Favorites in awhile, but decided not to take up that much of your time. I have been MIA lately and haven’t posted a Friday’s Favorites in quite some time. I have had a lot of favorites happening as of late.
My first-ever Muscles & Munchkins Fitness Challenge finished and everyone was incredible! Twenty-four people rocked some incredibly tough challenges in the month of February. The camaraderie was awesome and so inspiring. Be on the lookout for the next Muscles & Munchkins Fitness Challenge.
Last week the munchkins and I packed up to head back to my hometown and spent 5 days there. My brother is in the Navy and was home for a long leave so we wanted to soak up every possible moment with him. It was so great to be with him and my sister-in-law and for them both to meet M for the first time! I think the moment when my brother met his only nephew for the first time is one of my favorites in a very long time!
In addition to those two awesome things I have had going on, I do have some more favorites from this week to share with you!
Favorite Munchkin Moment
Almost 2.5 and almost 6 months- quite possibly my favorite two stages! I am loving all the funny things C is saying lately and how interactive and playful M is becoming. While I cooked dinner this week, C pulled up her stool and grabbed a stack of books to read to M. At one point she said, “I read it to you Maxewell David, look, look at me.” She then proceeded to read retell several stories to him and was incredibly accurate. He couldn’t take his eyes off of her. And I would be lying if I didn’t say that I was secretively jumping with joy that she is showing so many early reading behaviors (the teacher by trade is always around).
Favorite Workout
I am one week away from my Pump & Run event and have been really working on my speed and my bench press. Earlier this week, I completed this workout that focused on several of my goals: a fast 5k, bench pressing 70% of my weight & my pull-ups.
For this workout, the first interval run was as follows: 1 minute jog, 1 minute medium pace, 1 minute fast- repeat this until you get to 1 mile. The second mile was quarter mile pick-ups: increasing your speed every quarter mile. The final mile and the last leg of the workout was one mile as fast as you can possibly run.
Favorite Eat
I am hoping our days of needing to eat soup to warm us up are numbered, but this week I made this Stuffed Pepper Soup from Skinnytaste and it was awesome. Instead of adding the rice, I cooked up a batch of quinoa that we could add to it as we pleased. It was delicious!
Favorite Read
After writing my Post Baby Body this month, I received a really sweet text from a fellow member & friend who takes my class telling me that I am inspiring- it made my year. She also sent me a link from Hands Free Mama titled The Bully Too Close to Home. Since then, I have I read this several times and feel like I really need to read it often- you may feel the same. When we are comfortable with ourselves and let go of things we are better moms and that is what I am ultimately striving to be: the best mom and wife I can be.
Favorite Item
The onsie… and what I just learned about it! How have I been a mother for 2.5 years and am just now learning the purpose of those little slits/ overlaps on the top: so that you can slip it down and not up after a blowout?!?!?! Someone told me this on Wednesday and after one two three blowouts yesterday, I couldn’t believe I have been trying to pull the onsie off without getting poop on my child for so long.
There you have it, friends, my favorites from this week. I love to be with my family, workout, fuel everyone with good food, read and take notice and appreciate the things around me. Taking time to recognize my favorites from the week has been a great way for me to be more appreciative for each blessing in my life.
