I thought for sure when I sat down to write this final update to Baby #3 I would be 40 weeks pregnant and more than ready to have a baby. Instead, I am writing this in between newborn snuggles, marathon nursing sessions and trying to play zone defense. Life is good: we have a 4 day old son, Sam and are so in love.
I plan to share with you Sam’s birth story soon as well as my plan for my Post Baby journey, but first I thought I’d update you on the end and how I felt since my 36 week post.
I appreciate you following along on this journey. I have loved sharing this pregnancy with all of you an appreciate all of the encouragement and compliments as I tried my best to be transparent, inspiring, and live a fit pregnancy.
Weight Gain
The human body is amazing! It is official, I gained 38 pounds with Sam, which means that for all three pregnancies I gained almost the same weight (give or take 3 pounds). I guess my body just knows exactly what it needs to do to carry a healthy baby.
Workouts
Until the very end I was working out 4-5 times a week. The last week I dropped it down to 4 workouts, but I taught on Monday and had S on Wednesday. I am proud of that! I truly believe it made a difference in how great I feel right now.
Food Aversions & Cravings
At the end I had a hard time eating meat. There were some days I didn’t eat any meat at all. My appetite in general decreased, but don’t worry, it is back and in full effect.
Goals
My goal was to workout until the very end and have a healthy delivery- mission accomplished. Now I am all about enjoying this little boy of mine, making sure I rest and listening to my body.
Sleep
At the very end of this pregnancy I was sleeping terribly and was up about 6-8 times a night. I actually feel like I am getting more sleep now with a 4 day old than I did then. Maybe it is just the adrenaline I am feeling.
Feelings & Fun
I feel super blessed to have worked out through my whole pregnancy as I know some people are not that fortunate. I am loving life as a family of 5 and know that it will only get better.
C & MD are especially loving their new baby brother. C wants to always help: help change his diaper, help get him dressed, and hold him. MD on the other hand wants him to play right now. He likes to push him when he is in his swing. Since S is spending a lot time sleeping, C & MD are doing a great job of playing together.
I am enjoying our time at home as a family of 5 before real life resumes and J goes back to work. I will be sharing Sam’s birth story in the near future- keep checking back.
Oh and as July will be a little light here on the blog, sharing free workouts and teaching live classes, I do have ONE opportunity to still workout with me. There are still a few spots open for Round 2 of my SUMMER STRONG ONLINE BOOTCAMP: 4 weeks, tough workouts, hone in on your nutrition, and feel great. This awesome program starts NEXT MONDAY, JULY 11th. Shoot me an email: [email protected] or fill out the form below and I will be in touch.
