Still making your summer bucket list? I have something else to add to your list: Carmel Parks Summer Concerts for Kids. Not local? Check out your local parks department events calendar to see if there is anything like this for you and your munchkins to attend. The one hour morning concert was a ton of fun for my munchkins and it kept them active and moving too!

These concerts are held every Monday morning throughout the summer at 10am and alternate locations: River Heritage Park or West Park. The concerts are a great way to start off your week and get your kids moving.
The songs that are performed are engaging for the kids; my kiddos danced the whole entire time. There are new tunes, classic sing-a-longs and kid favorites. It is super fun when the performer even teaches the little ones some movements to go along with the song.
Ruditoonz
Mr. Scott, the guitarist and singer from Ruidtoonz was an awesome act for the first concert. He was engaging to the children and even made me laugh a few times. He played a variety of songs and C came home with the words memorized to a few. She is still talking about the song Monsters in My Basement.
He also books private events. How much fun would it be to have him at your next school carnival or even birthday party?!
Tips:
1. Get there early
The concert fills up fast. We arrived right at 10am and the parking lot was already filled. Parking was not an issue, but since we arrived right when it started, finding a place to put down our blanket was difficult.
2. Sit up front
If I would have gotten there early, we could have sat up front and this is something I will remember for next time. Sitting in the way back doesn’t allow for any sitting for the parents, especially if you have little ones. My two wanted to be up dancing and near the “stage” the whole time so that is where I was too. If you can sit up front so you can still see your munchkins while they are dancing that is ideal.
3. Pack some water
I was so glad I packed water and snacks. It was a hot morning and with all the dancing, my two were thirsty and hungry by the end. Water bottles and applesauce packets did the trick while we were dancing away they morning.
4. Sun hats & sunscreen
The space is open and there is very little shade. Make sure you grab those hats and sunscreen to keep your little ones protected.
If you are looking for something fun to add to your list with your munchkins this summer, don’t forget about this. There are still six concerts left and the schedule can be found here. And if you are not a local reader, I encourage you to look on your local parks department website and see what awesome summer activities they have to offer. You could even meet your friends there and it would be the perfect morning playdate that keeps your kids active and moving. All the concerts are held at parks, so pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the playground after.
