BlogTalk Tuesday: Why I Blog

Happy 1st Anniversary to this space I have created: Muscles & Munchkins.  1 year ago today I took a leap of faith and started this blog.  I had no idea where this would take me or what would come of it and in one year it has exceeded my expectations, brought me so much joy and has allowed me to create an amazing community.

This 1st Anniversary is also important because I was able to actually stick with this.  You see, I tried a personal blog before… well, two times really.  I was never able to stick with it.  For some reason, this one stuck.  This Anniversary symbolizes that for 1 full year I have committed to posting every week and I am proud!

BlogTalk Tuesday

In honor of this milestone I am dedicating Tuesdays for the month of August to “BlogTalk Tuesday”.  I often get questions about why and how I started my blog and I am here to tell.

Why I Blog

Blogging is my outlet.  Yes, I am a wife and mom first and that will always be my first job.  This blog of mine has given me a different kind of outlet.  It allows me to challenge myself, it keeps me learning and allows me to do it all at my own pace.  Being a stay-at-home is challenging for me.  I have a Masters degree in School Administration and before this blog I often felt like I was no longer professional and I had gone to school for nothing.

Blogging allows me to use my gifts.  God has given me a lot of gifts and for that I am blessed.  Through this blog I feel that I am able to use my God-given talents.  I will never forget my first day of grad school.  I sat there and listened to our keynote speaker and his challenge to us was, “No matter what you do, use your God-give time and talents,” it is something I will never forget.  No matter if I am a teacher in a traditional classroom or not, I will always find a way to use my gifts to teach and inspire others.

Blogging has given me confidence.  From behind the computer it may seem as if I have always been confident, but that is not the case.  Blogging has taken my confidence to a whole new level.  I have had to become confident in my own skin and in my own ways.  I am putting my life and my pictures out there for you all to read and to judge.  I know some may not agree with my way of life and that is okay.  For the first time in my life, I am okay with people not agreeing with how I live or what I do.

Blogging has allowed me to marry my passions.  I have a passion for teaching others, a passion for children and a passion for health and fitness.  I love running, group exercise, lifting weights, and being active with my children.  This is a little place that I get to marry my passions and all the things I love.

Blogging is mine… and it makes me proud.  I may never reach the same amount of page views that some bloggers do and I am okay with that.  This place is mine and no one else’s.  I follow my rules and do with it what I want.  Each time I reach a new milestone, get another 500 likes on Facebook or strike a deal with a brand I am proud- really proud.  The excitement I feel for this is what keeps me going.

Happy Blogiversary

Happy 1st Blogiversary to Muscles & Munchkins!  This milestone is really a huge thank you to all of you who stop by daily, weekly or month to read what I have to say.  To those of you who have done a workout of mine or taken a small tidbit of my advice- thank you.  I look forward to what the 2nd year of Muscles & Munchkins may bring!

Make sure you stop by again next Tuesday for some more BlogTalk Tuesday!
