Friday’s Five Favorites #24

It is Friday.  It is summer.  Life is grand!  When the sun shines and it is warm it feels like I love everything- life is just so much better in the summer.  I am popping in on this beautiful afternoon to share with you some of my favorites from the week and as you can imagine, I had a hard time choosing.

Favorite Munchkin Moment

I love that I get to be home to witness every milestone with my two munchkins.  This week M went from army crawling to the full out crawl.  Don’t worry though, sometimes he still army crawls: like when he can’t get to a ball fast enough and realizes the regular crawl won’t cut it and then the army crawl comes back because it is faster.  I wonder where he gets that competitive nature all ready?

Favorite Workout

My workouts were all so different this week and had so much variety- I loved it!  I taught my traditional classes at my gym, I did some speed work, I taught a park workout, I had a great heavy lifting day and I taught a Mommyfit class.  I absolutely loved my park workout, my heavy lift workout and my Mommyfit class- I can’t choose which one was my favorite.

My park workout made me feel super proud.  After neglecting the heavy weights for a week, I was so excited to get back to them this morning and introduce the weight room to a new friend.  And then there was Mommyfit… if you follow me on Instagram you saw the awesome shot of the kids working out with us.  This. Was. Amazing.  This married my passions.  This fueled me.  This made my heart skip… over and over again!

I kinda feel back in my “element” here, teaching face and all.  Once a teacher, always a teacher.

Favorite Eat

Hello fresh fruit, you are amazing!  I usually enjoy a granny smith apple with almond butter almost daily as I am blogging and my kids are napping.  This week it has been a variety of fresh fruit each day.  Today I am loving this watermelon, peach and freshly picked strawberries mix.  So delicious!

Favorite Read

My sweet friend in California sent me this article last week and I have read it about three or four times since then.  She was struggling with feeling guilty that her 18 month old son was not enrolled in anything for the summer: no music lessons, no swim lessons, nothing… until she read this article on slow parenting.

When she sent it to me I was feeling guilty because we are always out the door in the morning.  I then told myself that I am not going to feel guilty for getting my workout in because I know I am a better mom once I do.  However, I have decided that once the workout is done for the day we will just let these summer days guide us.  Last night decided on leftovers for dinner so that we could have family time at the pool when Daddy got off of work.  We then came home and enjoyed dinner outside on the porch.  We will slow down… it might not be slow to others, but for us it will be slower.

Favorite Item

Let’s be honest, when I am snacking or eating dessert, it is hard for me to stop.  I bought these little (rice) bowls from Crate & Barrel last year when I bought my new dishes and I use them daily.  Lately I have been enjoy my fruit and ice cream (yes, I have been bad about that) in them and it helps me with my portion sizes.  I also usually use them to measure out my almond butter.  And to that the answer is also, “Yes, I measure out my almond butter most days.”  Don’t roll your eyes, please… I have to… otherwise I would eat the whole jar.

Well, there you have it, my favorites from this week.  I am looking forward to enjoying more of my favorite things this weekend as well.  I hope you all have a great weekend- thanks for continuing to read.  I can’t wait to show you what I have in store for next week so make sure you check back.
