Friday’s Five Favorites #21

It has been a long week and I am so glad to be able to connect with you all today and share my favorites.  After a week like this, it has been great to dig down and remember what I have enjoyed from the week.  Finding the positives in each week really helps me put things into perspective and is a great way to wrap up the week and enter the weekend.

After a weekend of celebrating my birthday my two little munchkins came down with an ear infection and pneumonia (hence my absence from blogging this week).  We ended up taking them to the walk-in clinic on Sunday night and it took several days for them to get better.  I started feeling crummy on Sunday as well, but I was not sure if it was the amount of wine I drank or the same junk they had.  Unfortunately, I also came down with a virus of some sort, but I am sure the amount of wine and lack of sleep on Saturday did not help my immune system.  We are all finally feeling back to our normal selves and are looking forward to a laid back family weekend.

Despite the antibiotics, tylenol, number of tissues, and hours spent in our pajamas, we were still able to have an enjoyable week.  As always, I’d love to hear what you have loved about your week- leave a comment if you would.

Favorite Munchkin Moment

Although we were sick and stuck inside of the house I am so thankful that I was the one who was able to take care of my babies and I didn’t have to feel guilty about calling off of work.  There was a lot of snuggling, reading and playing in our pajamas happening at our house.  My favorite was when my two munchkins would hope into my bed together and snuggle- they just love each other!

Favorite Workout

Since I was sick, I went five full days without working out which is not like me at all.  When I finally got in a workout yesterday I felt so much better.  I also taught a new class this week (today) and loved it!  It was my first time teaching Mommy Fit and it was a blast.  I loved that all the little munchkins were right there with us as we worked out.  Some strolled along in the strollers, others ran and burned off their own energy and some even tried to mimic our every move.  I loved this opportunity!

Favorite Eat

After I finally started feeling better this week I finally made a dinner that didn’t consist of noodle soup and it tasted amazing.  Chicken tacos in the crockpot was my favorite meal of the week.  So simple and perfect after not feeling well.  Five chicken breasts in the crockpot, 3/4 jar of salsa, and 1 tablespoon of homemade taco seasoning and viola!  I browned our taco shells to make them crispy and served with lettuce, tomato and wholly guacamole.  The best part was that I had left over meat for the best taco salad the next day!

Favorite Read

I have two fitness challenges going on and one of my groups is incorporating a lot of Clean Eating into their challenges.  I have been using my favorite, Tosca Reno and The Eat Clean Diet.  I have read this once before but have loved rereading it and putting some practices I have been neglecting back into play.

Favorite Item

With M eating real food now I had to get out my favorite “baby mashing” utensil.  It is amazing how things are so different the second time around.  With C I would have had my whole freezer stocked with homemade baby food by now.  For M, I just have done a batch of sweet potatoes and I didn’t even food process them.  He has also had apples, avocado and banana, but I just use this awesome gadget to mash things up for him.  This makes it so easy!
