Good morning, Monday and good morning, December! November was a great month for me and for Muscles & Munchkins as the blog got a facelift from the awesome Heather at Moritz Fine Designs.

I took the whole weekend off from any blogging to be with my family and some very dear friends- it was wonderful!
Thanksgiving Eve
We started the holiday weekend off with some great friends on Thanksgiving Eve. My friend Heather and her family came over for pizza and drinks and we had an absolute blast. Her daughter Emily and Claire are just a month a part and they had a blast playing together. The older kids enjoyed playing Josh in war and coming up with a plan for a raccoon hunt. I think we discovered a new Thanksgiving Eve tradition on the years we stay in town.
Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving morning we woke up and took Max & Claire over to my in-laws because it was too cold for them to join us for our Thanksgiving Day 5k. Josh and I always try to start our Thanksgiving with a run and it is a great tradition. We loved the run in our community that honored a young man who lost his fight with leukemia. At the start of the race we let off balloons to remember our three family members we have lost to cancer: my grandpa, Josh’s grandpa and my Uncle Rick.
The race was great and I was impressed with my 24:58 time (8:03 pace). Claire and Max enjoyed their morning with Grandma and Grandpa and Claire even got to help make the turkey. After the race Josh and I headed home to get ready and enjoy a cup of coffee without any children.
We had a relaxing Thanksgiving Day at Josh’s parents. We ate well, took naps and just enjoyed each other’s company.
Friday
I am the opposite of most Americans on Black Friday- I don’t really like to leave the house besides to go to the gym… and that is what we did. After the gym we lounged around before deciding that we would brave the crowd and head out to get our Christmas tree. Claire was so excited to pick out the tree. Max on the other hand slept in the cart the whole time and I didn’t get any pictures of him.
On the way home, we drove by a few houses that already had lights up and Claire yelled, “More lights, more lights!” This holiday season is already fun with her.
Saturday
Saturday was another big day for us: Max’s Baptism! My Mom and Papaw Thom had come on Friday night and Saturday morning we woke up and headed out to breakfast before tackling our long list of tasks. The baptism was not until the evening so I spent the day cooking for the dinner afterwards. I did have time time to sneak in a 5 mile pace (at a 7:55 pace might I add!).
Our dear friends Mike, Lacey & their son Hudson came into town from California for the baptism. We chose Mike & Lacey to be Max’s Godparents and we were so happy they were able to make the trip for this special day- it meant the world to us! We are so blessed to have them in our lives.
The church service was wonderful and I felt so proud to have Max baptized, for him to be welcomed in our church, for so many people to pray for his journey with the Lord and for so many to pray for Josh and I as we parent him through the Word.
Sunday
After a busy, but wonderful weekend, Sunday was truly a day of rest… and tree decorating. Claire loved finding my old Minnie Mouse ornaments from when I was a kid and I am sure they won’t be staying on the tree.
We also let her watch The Polar Express for the first time while we decorated and she was intrigued. In true Max form, he just chilled.
December
The busy weekend was just preparing us for a busy December: holiday parties, our annual cookie bake, the Yuletide, a Colts game, and a lot of holiday traditions with our two favorite munchkins. We are excited to spend this holiday season as a family of four.
